Forest Bathing Can Make You Happy — Try It
I was supposed to be a magazine editor in New York City! The dream of many an elder millennial gal.
Instead we are here. Gleefully taking pictures amongst the leaves. In NJ. Never quite made it across the river. (And LOL @ me for studying print media in the mid-2000s.)
I recently realized that — after I took up running again a few years ago (Read: How I Accidentally Became a Better, Stronger Runner by Eating Plants)—I’ve been inadvertently practicing forest bathing.
WTF is forest bathing? No worries, National Geographic explains it all here.
In short: Even a 15-minute walk in nature can positively affect your entire physiology.
Scientists have been studying and continue to explore this phenomenon. There is now data that supports the idea that the forest — nature — is incredibly healing.
Anecdotally, this has been true for me. The local park in my town has become my happy place. And now I know it is literally making me happy.
I share this with all of you as it’s my mission in life to compile all of these incredibly accessible (and mostly FREE) health and wellness practices into one place and push this information out into the world.
On Creating Content
This brings me to my next point.
I’ve been quieter as of late across my “channels.” I’ve been thinking more than writing (and we all know that thinking is of no help to writing 😉. Walk with me to learn more).
I don’t want to create content for the sake of content. I want to create content that is meaningful, organic to who I am, and aligned with my mission of inspiring people to live their happiest, healthiest lives.
Quality, not quantity.
Although — I’m not sure any algorithms will appreciate this 😂.
Does anyone else feel this way?
I want to follow others who are creating authentic, thoughtful, and mission-driven content. Follow me and I'll follow back.
✌🏻❤️🥬
